Identify business opportunities in Australia’s micro precision systems market for a company based in Switzerland.
Client
Our client was founded originally in 1936 and is a specialist manufacturer of miniature electro-mechanical and optomechanical components and sub-assemblies. Their end customers are space and defence agencies, and fine medical and surgical device manufacturers.
Objective
To undertake a detailed review of the market to identify Australia’s readiness or otherwise for the client’s range of technical solutions.
Outcome
While Australia has a strong defence market, the project found that it does not currently have a precision manufacturing sector such as that required for the client’s technical solutions.
Such products currently find their way into Australia as completed assemblies and finished products that are provided by global space, defence and medical organisations.
The client decided to focus on markets other than Australia for the time being, saving a significant planned investment program that would otherwise have had no financial return.
