Project
Acquisition identification for multinational engineering and industrial process automation company based in the United Kingdom.
Client
Our client was a UK stock exchange-listed industrial business with a diversified product and services portfolio. The company owned many global brands in the electronics, industrial process software and energy controls and appliances market sectors.
Objective
The Energy Controls and Appliance division operated in a mature market and hence suffered declining sales. A strategic decision was made to acquire a new business in the health tech sector that exhibited premium margins and yet leveraged its design and manufacturing skills in precision controls and actuators.
Outcome
Strategy Australia was selected to identify potential acquisition targets, and a major program was undertaken. Ten initial and potential acquisition targets were identified, and through a process of elimination, three were selected as the strongest candidates. A business case was developed jointly, and one of the targets was successfully acquired.
